Meet the Doctors
Dr. Hunter Hodges
Dr. Hodges graduated from Tuskegee University School of Veterinary Medicine in 1997 and shortly afterwards opened Brassfield Animal Hospital with Dr. Ralph Yerex.
He showed horses competitively while growing up in Virginia until moving to North Carolina for college. He has 2 daughters, 2 dogs and several horses. His wife continues to ride and show in the Hunter/Jumper circuit along with one of their daughters.
His interests are Animal Chiropractic and Acupuncture. He received his acupuncture training and certification from IVAS in Calgary, Canada in 2000 and his chiropractic training and certification from Options for Animals in Wellsville, Kansas in 2010.
Dr. Ralph Yerex
Dr. Yerex graduated from University of Wisconsin River Falls in 1984 with Honors with a degree in Biochemistry.
He then attended Glasgow University Veterinary School in Glasgow Scotland and graduated in 1989. James Herriott, author of all creatures Great and Small, attended Glasgow University Veterinary School. He was lucky to meet him on a few occasions. Both his parents attended St. Andrews University in Scotland. During his five years in Scotland he was able to meet many people and travel to different countries.
He returned and spent a year at The Ohio State University College of Veterinary medicine in the visiting scholar program. He then entered private practice, finally opening a practice with Dr. Hodges in 1997.
He is married to Sue Yerex, has 1 daughter, four dogs one cat and one lizard.
His family fosters dogs for Animal Rescue & Foster Program (arfpnc.com). They also volunteer at the International Civil Rights Museum. Sue sings with Spiritual Renaissance Singers of Greensboro (srsg99.com). They are also active with The Buffalo Soldiers Motorcycle Club, of which Dr. Yerex is a member. Dr. Yerex and his family enjoy riding his motorcycle, gardening, hiking or taking their "pack" out for a walk. Basically, just enjoying what Greenboro and North Carolina have to offer.
Dr. John Carr
Dr. Carr graduated from the University of Tennessee College of Veterinary Medicine.
He has practiced veterinay medicine in Greensboro since 1988 and then established Carr Veterinay Hospital in 1994. He has enjoyed the varied and wonderful clients that have entrusted him to care for their pets. He attends continuing education seminars throughout the year to be better able to offer up to date care for the companion animals needing his professional treatment.
He has special interest in surgery, internal medicine, orthopedics, advanced diagnostics, ultrasound and behavior management.
He is a member of the American Veterinay Medical Association, North Carolina VMA, Guilford County VMA and the Veterinary Information Network.
He has served the ARC of Greensboro, and is an active member of the Nat Greene Kiwanis Club. He is marrid to Kathleen Carr has 2 amazing children and 2 wonderful yorkshire terriers. In his free time he enjoys tennis, family activities, reading, fishing and golf.
